Carrying on with the Christmas-y theme this week, I am meshing Wedding Wednesday with Christmas. Monday I was chatting about making your own quick and easy ornaments using graduation tassels. Today, I am sharing two more ideas for even MORE ornaments you can make to add to your collection.
And turned them into these:
We had extra programs leftover from our wedding. I couldn’t part with them, so they have been sitting in the “wedding box” for three years now. Just waiting to make another appearance. Well, 2013 was their year. I pulled them out, cut them up in strips (gasp!), rolled around my finger and carefully placed inside a glass ornament. Super easy, right? The lace and chiffon pictured below, on the right, was also leftover from our wedding. I wore my Mom’s dress on our wedding day, but had it altered slightly. This is some the remaining material post alteration. I cut a a small piece of each and placed inside another glass ornament. Done! Two new ornaments crafted-up in 10 minutes.
Just for fun, here are my parents on their wedding day circa 1981. My Mom’s dress had full length chiffon and lace sleeves with lace detail across the entire neckline and back. Guess where the dress is from? JC Penney’s. Yup!
And here the dress is 29 years later after alternations. Even though I removed the sleeves and neckline, I reused most of the material to make the sash and a garter. I am determined to find a use for every last bit of that dress.
Here are a few more snapshots for your viewing pleasure.
I am on a roll with the DIY ornaments this year. I keep finding more sentimental pieces to hang on the Christmas tree. We may need another tree next year! Don’t tell Paul. 😉 Anyone else making ornaments from special wedding memorabilia? Please do share! Happy Wednesday!
