Last weekend a good friend and I ventured to Stillwater, Minnesota. An adorable city hugging the St. Croix River with so much to do. I have been to Stillwater before, but typically passing through, or making a pit stop for a bachelorette party or two. Did you know Stillwater is the birthplace of Minnesota? I probably learned that same fact in school, but lost it along the way. I officially re-learned that fact. 🙂
Our weekend was pure bliss. We started our Friday morning with a River Sok treatment at Just For Me Spa. If only every Friday morning could start with a spa treatment! Part of the package included a soak in a Kohler Sok Chromatherapy tub. This tub was so very dreamy. I want one for my own bathroom now. The rest of our weekend was filled with shopping, eating, drinking, more shopping and wandering around Stillwater.
My top 5 favorites things from our weekend Stillwater adventure were:
We enjoyed many meals, drinks and snacks during the weekend. I definitely enjoyed the Mexican food at Nacho Mama’s and the cheese plate appetizer at Charlie’s Restaurant at Water Street Inn was life changing. Assuming you like cheese. I love cheese. Oh, and those cupcakes above? They are from Mara Mi. The cookies ‘n’ cream cheesecake cupcake was delicious! I brought one home and Paul won’t stop talking about that cupcake.
The shopping was endless and the variety of boutique shopping was fabulous. Alfresco was our favorite shop filled with gifts, clothes, home goods and furniture.
We also hit up many antique shops along Main Street. There were so many treasures and beautiful pieces of furniture. We were picking out furniture and decor for our future Stillwater “cabin”. Also, trolls from my childhood have made their way into antique shops. This same troll was once my favorite.
The candy shop selection was impressive. The smell of a candy shop is the best. If we didn’t stop to enjoy so many other treats along the way, we would have eaten our weight in candy.
The charm and character of Stillwater is breathtaking. I guess I have a door fetish because I took several photos of doors as sampled above. Walking in the streets and through the shops and buildings was one of my favorite parts. Our hotel, the Waterstreet Inn, was also a hit. Great central location, wonderful service and unforgettable food. We were pleasantly surprised at the size and cleanliness of our suite. I would highly recommend staying here if you visit Stillwater!
We are already planning our next visit back to Stillwater! What is your favorite part of Stillwater?
