The Dollar Table

For the first few months after finishing our kitchen remodel, we used a classic folding table and chairs.  We started shopping around for a real table and gravitated towards the large rustic, farm house style tables- something like this.  We were also thinking about building our own table using a plan via Ana White’s website.  But, before we could even make plans to build our own, I got this text from my Dad:

A barn wood table for a buck?  Yes, $1.00/ 1 dollar/one dollar; you read that right.  It was a little hard to see in the photos, but it sounded like the right style.  I showed Paul the text and he looked at me like I was crazy (a frequent occurrence in our house).  “Tell him to bring it home!”, he said.  So my favorite Brother (hola, Ryan!) delivered a few days later.  Here it is in our dining room sans the chairs (more on those later).

We love it!  A perfect match.  My Mom was hoping we wouldn’t want the table because she really liked the table.  I told her she can visit the table any time. 😉  It’s far from perfect, but that’s what we love about it.  And, if a friend happens to accidentally carve their name in our table, while playing card games, we probably won’t notice and can’t get mad at the added character. Right?  What do you think of the table?  Anyone else on the hunt or building their own rustic, farm house inspired table?
